Uefa have postponed all national team matches for men and women due to be played in June 2020 until further notice as the coronavirus outbreak continues to take its toll on football.

European football's governing body has also confirmed its club competitions, including the Champions League and Europa League will remain suspended.

Sport across the world has been hit hard by Covid-19, which has caused leagues and competition to be suspended.

Uefa is urgently discussing the fallout from the virus as they try to plan for the future and last month they elected to move Euro 2020 until next year.

The governing body met on Wednesday via videoconference with the general secretaries of all 55 member associations.

Recommendations were made by the working groups created on March 17 and the UEFA Executive Committee took a series of decisions:

  • All national team matches for men and women due to be played in June 2020 are postponed until further notice. This includes the play-off matches for UEFA EURO 2020 and qualifying matches for UEFA Women’s EURO 2021

  • All other UEFA competition matches, including the centralised international friendly matches, remain postponed until further notice.

Uefa have also cancelled this summer's European Under-17 Championship and European Women’s Under-19 Championship, which were scheduled to be held in May and July respectively.
