Two tourists dragged out to sea as tidal waves smash Bali resorts

Two tourists have died after they were dragged out to sea as massive tidal waves continue to crash and flood tourist spots on the coast of Bali.

The tourists from Hong Kong and Singapore died at Padang Galak Beach in Sanur last Thursday, according to local newspaper Tribun Bali, and were part of a larger group who had been at the beach as part of a ceremony.

Since, the tidal waves and rough seas have left tourists in Bali terrified after massive surges of water threatened to sweep holidaymakers out to sea.

Visitors to Seminyak posted footage of the huge waves on social media, showing the wall of water crashing into the resort grounds.

One man can be seen running for cover as the king tide saturates guests in lounge chairs and gushes into the swimming pool.

“8 to 12 foot sets rolling through,” Ben Marner wrote along side the video post on Instagram.

The wild waves have flooded parts of the island and damaged coastal businesses and restaurants.

Earlier this month, a bride was killed after she was swept away by a freak wave on the island of Nusa Penida.

Lestari Williams was torn away from her husband as the pair swam at Angel Billabong while on their honeymoon.

Her body was recovered the following day washed up on the coastline.
