Two Swifties at The Eras Tour realize they’ve actually met before, and it’s all thanks to their cats

Ready to go on a journey? One Taylor Swift fan revealed the unconventional way she reconnected with someone from her past.

Ginnie, perhaps better known as @thethriftyswiftie on TikTok, is a Brooklyn, N.Y.-based content creator who attended the first stop of The Eras Tour in Glendale, Ariz. Little did she know she was going to meet someone she already knew.

“OK, picture it: I’m at the airport. I’m wearing my ‘mirrorball’ hat. I am just having a moment. My headphones are in. I’m re-listening to the setlist. I’m sitting on the floor. I’m waiting for my flight to board,” she says. “And then this sweet little Swiftie next to me goes, ‘Oh my god, did you guys just come from the concert? How freaking good was it?'”

In no time, Ginnie befriended the two other Swifties nearby and made “a little emotional TikTok” about how Taylor Swift brought them together.

“…how excited we are to get home and snuggle our cute little cats.”

“And at this point, one of the Swifties had a better seat than us, so she had already boarded the plane,” she says before revealing that she and the remaining Swiftie were seated next to each other.

“We then spend the entire flight from Phoenix back to J.F.K. just debriefing the concert and talking about everything Taylor Swift,” she explains. “How Taylor has saved our various lives at different points in time, how excited we are to get home and snuggle our cute little cats.”

After realizing they lived close to each other in Brooklyn, they decided to share a cab.

“As I’m filling my water bottle, my new Swiftie friend says just casually, ‘So how long have you had your cat?’ And I say, ‘Well, I’ve had my cat for about four years. And she says, ‘So funny. I’ve had my cat for four years.'”

“And I just look at her and say, ‘I’m about to tell you the craziest thing ever.'”

This, according to Ginnie, is “when the pieces start to fall into place.”

“And as I’m turning around, she goes, ‘I adopted my cat four years ago, but I adopted him when he was 10 years old,'” Ginnie says. “And I just look at her, and I say, ‘I’m about to tell you the craziest thing ever.'”

It turns out Ginnie and this Swiftie had met four years earlier at a veterinarian’s office on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

“‘…I couldn’t recall your face, but how would I ever forget this face?'”

“And I say, ‘We were at the vet on the same day, four years ago. I was bringing my brand-new kitten, Hamilton, in for his first check-up, and you were there with Ollie,” Ginnie says. “And the vet staff said that their favorite patient of the day was Hamilton, and then said, ‘Scratch that, it was Hamilton and Ollie.'”

While Ginnie was unable to remember her new friend’s face, she did remember Ollie’s.

“And I go, ‘I couldn’t recall your face, but how would I ever forget this face?’ And I still had love for them because what a freaking amazing person adopts a 10-year-old cat?” Ginnie says. “And then she goes, ‘I had been following you on TikTok for a year. I had no idea who you were. I didn’t recognize your face, but I could never forget this face,'” referencing Ginnie’s cat.

“taylor would be so proud y’all remembered each other through cats”

As Swift fans are aware, Taylor is a major cat lover. The “Midnights” singer is mom to three cats: Olivia Benson, Meredith Grey and Benjamin Button. Swifties quickly commented on Ginnie’s video, which garnered more than 562,500 views in one day.

“of course the cats drove u together,” someone replied.

“Invisible string of besties,” another said, referencing Swift’s song “invisible string.”

“taylor would be so proud y’all remembered each other through cats,” one fan responded.

Is there a more Taylor Swift way to reconnect with a familiar (albeit cat) face? We think not.
