Two people have been rescued after they reportedly became trapped underground in Halifax.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to Paddock Lane at 19:05 BST on Thursday.

Four crews attended the incident, while police, Yorkshire Water and the Environment Agency were also involved in the rescue operation.

The fire service said both casualties were rescued using line gear and had been "passed to the care of our colleagues in Yorkshire Ambulance Service".
