Two police officers assaulted during random breath test

Two West Australian police officers have allegedly been assaulted by a man and woman during a random breath test.

A 30-year-old woman allegedly attacked the female senior constable’s head and throat, kicking and striking at her, after the officers stopped a car in Wagin about 11pm on Saturday.

The male sergeant intervened but he was allegedly wrestled to the ground by a 33-year-old man and attacked by the pair when he tried to help his colleague.

The officers were treated in hospital for cuts and bruises while their alleged attackers have each been charged with assaulting a public officer.
