Two men drown while rowing across lake in old fridge

Two men have drowned after trying to row across a lake in a battered old fridge.

The incident took place on Yedigoller Lake, in the northwestern Turkish province of Kutahya, and was witnessed by a couple enjoying a picnic in the area.

According to local media, the onlookers saw the two victims attempting to cross the lake in an old fridge before tumbling into the water.

When the couple saw the men in distress, they immediately called the emergency services to report the incident.

The police arrived on the scene with firefighters and members of the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), according to local media.

AFAD divers entered the lake and after a short search they managed to find the dead bodies of two men.

Other shocking images show them dragging one of the bodies out of the water and the fridge they reportedly used as a sailing vessel.

The victims’ corpses were taken to a local hospital to undergo an autopsy.

Meanwhile, the local authorities have confirmed that they are investigating the unusual deaths.

The victim’s identities are currently unknown, according to local media.
