Two men charged over Tony Mokbel prison stabbing

Two men have been charged following a stabbing at Barwon Prison on Monday which left drug kingpin Tony Mokbel in a critical condition.

The men, both 21, have been charged with attempted murder, intentionally causing serious injury and causing serious injury intentionally in circumstances of gross violence.

They will appear before Geelong Magistrates’ Court for a filing hearing on Friday.

The charges relate to the alleged stabbing of Tony Mokbel, 53, and another man, 31, about 3.40pm.

The 53-year-old man remains in hospital in a critical condition and the 31-year-old man was released from hospital this morning.
