Two people have been killed in a two-car crash in Darwin, with one driver dying when his vehicle caught fire, trapping him inside.
The cars collided at Palmerston late on Friday night.
A 34-year-old woman, who was driving one car, died at the scene.
Police say witnesses of the crash were able to free a 21-year-old passenger from the other vehicle who was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital in a serious condition.
The 20-year-old driver of the second car was trapped inside when it caught fire and also died at the scene.
Major Crash Investigation officers are examining the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Five lives have now been lost on Northern Territory roads in 2020.
