Police are appealing for help following a violent home invasion in western Sydney where a gun-toting duo left a woman with facial injuries.

Police were called to the Auburn home on Tuesday night following reports two men - one armed with a gun described as similar to a shotgun - had entered and demanded cash, before hitting the woman in the face with the gun and fleeing in a car driven by a third suspect.

The 59-year-old was treated by paramedics before being taken to Concord Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A 59-year-old man was also taken to Concord Hospital with minor injuries.
