Two fans led away in handcuffs during Yankees-Indians game after breaking into stadium

Fans will be allowed to attend the National League Championship Series in Texas in a few weeks, but a few fans at Progressive Field tried to get the party started a little early.

The Cleveland Indians’ home ballpark hasn’t allowed fans to attend games this entire season, but two fans appeared to have broken into the park during the second wild-card series game between the Indians and the New York Yankees on Wednesday night. According to Bleacher Report, the fans jumped the fence but were soon apprehended.

David Dermer, an eagle-eyed photographer with the Associated Press, managed to snap a few pictures of the men being surrounded by police and presumably arrested in the left-field bleachers. One was wearing a gray Cleveland jersey, and seemed pretty unhappy that he wasn’t going to be able to watch the rest of the game from the stadium. (Or the rest of the game at all.)

Newsday reporter Erik Boland recorded some footage from his location in the press box.

ESPN didn’t show the men being apprehended in the stands, but they did show the police leading them away in handcuffs through the stadium concourse. Play-by-play man Matt Vasgersian sounded baffled by what he was watching.

The Cleveland Police Department has yet to confirm any arrests at Progressive Field on Wednesday night.
