Two dead as army jet crashes in Mozambique

Two people who were in a military aircraft are dead after the plane caught fire after crashing into a residential area in Maputo as it approached the runway.

The aircraft was being used for training and the student pilot and his instructor died in the accident.

Initial media reports indicated the plane hit a power line.

The wreckage of the aircraft then burst into flames shortly after it crashed into a building.

Mozambique's aviation authority has begun investigating the accident.
