Two charged over hay shed fires in NSW

A man and a woman are behind bars accused of destroying two hay sheds after starting a fire on a farm in NSW's south last month.

One hay shed was set on fire in the middle of the night on a Billilingra property, near Cooma on April 22, which spread to a neighbouring property.

RFS firefighters raced to the scene to extinguish the blaze but both properties and their hay sheds were extensively damaged, police say.

An investigation led to a search warrant being executed at a Cooma home on Wednesday with a 22-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman arrested.

The pair have been charged with destroying property in company by fire and will appear at Cooma Local Court on Thursday.
