Two men have been charged with kidnapping and assaulting a teenage boy in far north Queensland.
Police say the 17-year-old was punched, threatened with a knife and forced into a car by people he knew at a Redlynch shopping centre in Cairns after 10pm on Sunday.
The boy was allegedly forced to drive to a residence in nearby Caravonica where he was released about 15 minutes later.
Two men, aged 25 and 27, were arrested about an hour later at Lake Placid and later charged with one count of kidnapping each.
The 25-year-old will face Cairns Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
The 27-year-old is expected to reappear in the same court on July 2 where he is also due to face separate charges of serious assault, wilful damage and stealing in relation to an alleged incident in Cairns CBD in April involving a person aged over 60.
