Two armed robberies in SA may be linked

A masked man with a shotgun has robbed a jewellery store in Adelaide's northwest, smashing display cases with a hammer and stuffing valuables into a sack.

The brazen smash-and-grab occurred hours after an armed man broke into a woman's home and police are investigating whether the incidents are linked.

The jewel thief was wearing a balaclava and thongs and when he entered the store in Arndale Shopping Centre at Kilkenny about 12.45pm on Sunday.

He broke a number of glass cabinets with a hammer and stuffed jewellery into a large sack before fleeing.

A manhunt is underway for the suspect who was wearing grey clothing, socks and thongs.

Police believe the suspect got away in a grey Ford Territory with registration S044BBR.

Earlier on Sunday a woman was threatened and robbed by an armed intruder at a home in nearby Prospect.

The suspect stole an iPad, jewellery and cash and was last seen getting into a grey four-wheel drive about 10.30am.

Police are investigating possible links between robberies at the jewellery store and the Prospect home.

No one was injured in either incident but some staff members are being treated for shock.

Anyone who sees the Ford Territory is asked to contact police but urged not to approach as the suspect may be armed and dangerous.
