Turnbull Government scraps $8 billion Medicare levy increase

Australian families will save hundreds of dollars each year because of a major budget backflip.

The Turnbull Government has scrapped plans for an $8 billion Medicare Levy increase.

The 0.5 per cent rise on the existing two per cent levy was announced in last year’s Budget to fully fund the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

Instead of taking 2% of your taxable income, they would’ve taken 2.5%.

The government is now confident it can pay for assistance to 440,000 disabled Australians through greater revenue from economic growth.
