Trump wins South Dakota

Former President Trump has won South Dakota in the 2024 presidential election, according to a projection from Decision Desk HQ.

A ruby-red state, South Dakota turned out in support of the Republican candidate in high numbers in both his previous bids for the White House. In 2016, Trump won by 30 points against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. He beat President Biden by about 26 percentage points in 2020.

South Dakota has three votes in the Electoral College, and the last time a Democratic presidential candidate won in the state was in 1964.
