“America is facing a Healthcare Crisis, and there may be no Physician more qualified and capable than Dr. Oz to Make America Healthy Again,” Trump said in a statement that will make you question the purpose of capitalization. “He is an eminent Physician, Heart Surgeon, Inventor, and World-Class Communicator, who has been at the forefront of healthy living for decades. Dr. Oz will work closely with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., [Trump’s pick for Secretary of Health and Human Services], to take on the illness industrial complex, and all the horrible chronic diseases left in its wake.”

Oz is best known as the host of The Dr. Oz Show, a syndicated talk show that aired for 13 seasons from 2009 to 2022. Production ceased due to Oz’s campaign for the United States Senate seat in Pennsylvania; he did not win.

Oz joins a prospective cabinet that also includes Sen. Marco Rubio for Secretary of State, Rep. Matt Gaetz for Attorney General, Trump’s “hush money” defense attorney Todd Blanche for Deputy AG, Fox News host Pete Hegseth for Defense Secretary, The Real World alum/former congressman Sean Duffy for Secretary of Transportation, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem for Secretary of Homeland Security and Rep. Tulsi Gabbard for Director of National Intelligence.

During Trump’s first presidential campaign in 2016, he famously appeared on The Dr. Oz Show to discuss the results of a recent physical exam, with Oz ultimately declaring Trump physically fit to run. In turn, Trump endorsed Oz for his own Senate run which, again, he did not win.
