Truckers trapped in Chile snowstorm rescued

STORY: Officials said some 300 people were moved to shelters after 250 vehicles got stuck in the Los Caracoles mountain slope in the Valparaiso region.

Local media reported that rescue work took more than 23 hours due to adverse weather conditions high in the Andes Mountains.

Videos show police helping to evacuate car and bus drivers trapped in the snow on Saturday (July 9).

Heavy snowfall in the Andes mountain range has forced authorities to close the pass between Argentina and Chile.
