For country music couple Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks, making each other a priority is the glue that keeps them together.

Speaking to Good Morning America in December, the Food Network host said that despite their hectic schedules, she and the "Unanswered Prayers" singer constantly do their best to make time for each other.

"You have to make it a conscious effort to make sure that you put each other first, and we do that, and sometimes it's not easy," Trisha said. "We have to compromise, and that's really what it's about. We're friends at the end of the day, and we enjoy each other's company and like being together."

Trisha and Garth met back in 1987 while recording a demo. At the time, Garth was still married to his first wife, Sandy Mahl, while Trisha was married to Christopher Latham.

"It's strange because I felt that feeling like when you just meet your wife, but I'd been married [to Sandy] for 13 months," Garth explained in a 2013 Ellen Degeneres Show interview. "Being married, it’s gotta be right. This is who you went to college with, and you were married in front of God and your family and everything."

In 2001, Garth called it quits with Sandy — two years after Trisha split with her second husband, Robert Reynolds. Garth and Trisha got engaged and tied the knot in 2005.

"When you meet someone, you know," Garth told Parade in 2016 when the publication asked the couple how each knew the other person was the one. Trisha also added, "It was probably the minute I met him, even though I didn't know it at the time. I just think we're meant to be."
