The family of a 21-year-old man who died in a three-car crash on Birmingham's Aston Expressway have said he was loved beyond words.

Ryan Sandhu was killed on the A38 (M) just after midnight on Sunday, West Midlands Police said.

Two men, aged 27 and 24, have since been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and released on bail pending further enquiries.

Mr Sandhu's family said he was "our family's brightest light" and that his infectious humour and playful spirit made him "the heart and soul of our family".

He was confirmed dead at the scene after the collision which closed the expressway in both directions for about 12 hours.

In a statement issued through police, his family said: “As the baby of our family, Ryan was loved beyond words by each and every one of us.

"Beloved son, brother, uncle, grandson, and friend, our lives have been forever shattered by his loss. He will be missed more than words can express.”

Det Sgt Rich Evans, from the serious collision investigation unit, said: “Our enquiries continue and we would ask anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash cam and hasn’t yet spoken with us to come forward with any information you have, no matter how small.

“Our thoughts are with Ryan’s family as we continue to support them.”
