Travel not recommended on several Sask. highways because of freezing rain Friday morning
The Saskatchewan Highway Hotline recommended against travelling on several highways Friday morning, with conditions changing rapidly throughout the day.
As of 6:20 a.m. CST Friday, the hotline was reporting several ice-covered highways as a result of overnight freezing rain. Most of those roads had been designated safe for use as of 1:50 p.m. CST.

In west-central Saskatchewan, highways in and out of Rosetown were not recommended for travel in the morning, including Highway 7 from Rosetown to Delisle, Highway 4 down to Elrose, and Highway 15 to Milden. All of those highways were safe for travel as of 1:50 p.m. CST. Highway 31 to Plenty remained under the travel not recommended advisory at that time.
Highways in southern Saskatchewan also showed travel not recommended, including Highway 39 from Highway 1 to Yellow Grass and Highway 6 south of Regina. Both the highways were previously covered in ice, but were designated as safe for travel as of 1:50 p.m. CST.
Drivers are asked to be cautious if they encounter icy conditions.
