Transfer news LIVE!

Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea are all playing leading roles as the transfer window heats up ahead of pre-season.

The Gunners have reportedly reached an agreement with Manchester City to sign Gabriel Jesus, as that moved nears completion. Spurs have already been one of the busiest clubs in the transfer window thus far and could yet add one of Richarlison or Raphinha to their list of recruits, though Leeds may be even more unwilling to sell with Kalvin Phillips on his way to Manchester City. Tottenham’s attempts to bring Djed Spence to north London continue to make little progress.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are yet to make a men’s first-team signing but fresh reports claim Todd Boehly has promised manager Thomas Tuchel SIX new additions as they chase Matthijs De Ligt and top target Raheem Sterling. Arrivals are expected at both ends of the pitch. Follow all the latest news with our LIVE blog below.

Raphinha with north London decision

07:00 , Matt Verri

Arsenal and Tottenham could be the last two clubs in the race for Raphinha.

Fabrizio Romano reports that while Chelsea are interested, their top priority is bringing Raheem Sterling to Stamford Bridge this summer.

With it unclear whether Barcelona are in a financial position to act on their interest in Raphinha, the two serious offers look set to come from north London.

However, with Leeds selling Kalvin Phillips, they are likely to be even more determined to secure a huge fee.

Ajax push for Bergwijn

06:30 , Matt Verri

Ajax are prepared to break their transfer record to sign Steven Bergwijn from Tottenham, writes Giuseppe Muro.

Bergwijn has been told he can leave Spurs this summer and Sebastien Haller’s transfer to Borussia Dortmund will help Ajax fund a move for the Dutch international.

Ajax’s current transfer record is the £20.25million they paid West Ham for Haller in January 2021. But the Dutch giants are ready to spend more than that to land Bergwijn.

Ajax want Bergwijn to form part of a new-look attack next season and are expected to step up their pursuit of the 24-year-old after agreeing to sell Haller. Tottenham paid £27m for Bergwijn in January 2020.

Liverpool business done, says McManaman

Friday 24 June 2022 23:04 , Matt Verri

Steve McManaman is not expected any further additions to his former club Liverpool’s squad in the coming weeks.

“I don’t believe Liverpool need to make more signings this summer,” McManaman said via the Liverpool Echo.

“Where would you put them? They’ve made three signings already this summer.

“They’ve brought in Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay, who are two players for the future and they’ve also brought in Darwin Núñez, who’s another player for the future to a certain extent but has cost them a lot of money.

“Players will have to leave as there isn’t enough space to fit everybody in. Keeping the players happy now is as hard a job as it is to jam all of these players into the team.”

Raphinha deal now more difficult?

Friday 24 June 2022 22:05 , Matt Verri

Could Kalvin Phillips’ imminent move to Manchester City have an impact on Leeds selling Raphinha?

There’s certainly no need for Leeds to sell the Brazilian, with City buying Phillips for £42million.

With Chelsea likely focusing on Raheem Sterling, it looks to be a straight race between Arsenal and Tottenham for Raphinha - but any hopes of driving the price down seem to have ended.

John O’Shea predicts transfer domino when Romelu Lukaku leaves Chelsea

Friday 24 June 2022 17:03 , Jonathan Gorrie

Speaking to Paddy Power, former Manchester United defender John O’Shea has predicted a transfer chain-reaction when Romelu Lukaku leaves Chelsea.

The forward is expected to rejoin Inter Milan on loan next wee.

“Richarlison didn’t have the best of seasons last year, but he did turn up in a couple of big, important games for Everton and in an ideal scenario, Frank Lampard would look to hang on to him” he said.

“But if Everton do sell Richarlison, whether he goes to Arsenal will depend on whether they can get both Raphinha and Gabriel Jesus in.

“If Romelu Lukaku leaves, there will be a space at Chelsea for him. One big transfer will probably trigger three or four other big transfers too.

“This is when everything gets moving and the excitement builds up as the start of the season approaches.”

Chelsea FC: Kepa to hold talks with Thomas Tuchel over future

Friday 24 June 2022 12:17 , Jonathan Gorrie

Kepa Arrizabalaga has revealed he will hold talks over his future at Chelsea with manager Thomas Tuchel.

The most expensive goalkeeper in the history of the game, the Spaniard has been reduced to a back-up role since the signing of Edouard Mendy in 2020.

Noted as somewhat of a penalty expert, the 27-year-old did not save a single effort in the shootout during the Carabao Cup final defeat to Liverpool in February and was not brought on for the FA Cup final edition against the same opponent.

While the former Athletic Bilbao stopper did generally operate as Tuchel’s cup goalkeeper last season, Kepa has revealed he is eager to play more.

Limited to only four Premier League appearances, the club are open to a sale should a sizeable offer emerge, although recouping anything close to the £72m spent on the Spanish international in 2018 looks extremely unlikely.

While it remains to be seen whether Barcelona want to, or are able to, match Dembele’s wage demands, the winger staying at the Nou Camp would likely see the Spanish giants pull out of the race to sign Raphinha.

That would then leave rivals Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea to battle it out.

Bellingham a ‘special talent'

Thursday 23 June 2022 19:23 , Matt Verri

Danny Murphy has named the three midfielders he believes should be top of Liverpool’s wishlist should they look to make a big-money signing in that area of the pitch.

“I wouldn’t say it’s a priority but there are a couple of names that really stand out - [Jude] Bellingham is a special talent, there’s no doubt about that,” Murphy told BeMyBet.

“He would be somebody who very few people would be unhappy with if he turned up at Anfield because he can play in a variety of positions in that midfield.

“He’s got super athleticism that Klopp likes for his midfield players and he’s got the ability to score lots of goals in a good team. He would be somebody I would really be looking at, yes.

“If you’re talking about somebody long term to try and fill the void which will be left by Jordan Henderson, then you’d be looking at someone more like Declan Rice, or even Kalvin Phillips.”

Conte revolutionises transfer strategy

Thursday 23 June 2022 17:28 , Matt Verri

his time last year, Tottenham were back at square one. Their torturous search for a new manager had just taken its latest turn, after talks with Gennaro Gattuso broke down, writes Giuseppe Muro.

They had lurched from Paulo Fonseca to Erik ten Hag on a seemingly unending list of candidates and talks with Mauricio Pochettino and Antonio Conte had collapsed.

Harry Kane was looking to leave and the apparent lack of a long-term strategy was alarming. Spurs eventually settled on Nuno Espirito Santo — and we know how that went. 12 months on and the mood at Tottenham could not be more different.

After securing Champions League qualification ahead of Arsenal on the final day of the season, the Conte revolution is continuing with a transfer strategy that has all the traits of a club with serious ambition.
