Tragic twist to dad’s crash death
A father killed in an Adelaide Hills motorbike crash was on his way to visit his injured partner when he got into the accident.
Brad Hill was riding along North East Rd in Inglewood on Tuesday afternoon when he failed to make it around a bend.
Police say that he lost control of the motorcycle before falling from it and colliding with an oncoming car.
The 41-year-old man had been on the way to visit his partner, who is recovering from a head-on collision that nearly killed her in Williamstown last month.
Daniiel Wilkey is currently in rehabilitation after receiving critical injuries in the crash.
The couple spoke on the phone the night of Mr Hill’s accident, sharing a now heartbreaking message for each other according to Ms Wilkey’s sister Kandiice Dickson.
“The last thing they said was they love each other,” she told 7NEWS.
“It’s not something you think you have to go through, to almost lose someone and then a month later lose someone else, it’s just not fair.”
The Adelaide father had rushed to Ms Wilkey’s side after her accident, with her sister saying he “saved” her while breaking down in tears
“We couldn’t go on without her,” she said.
“She means so much to so many people and he kept her in our lives and we can never repay him for what he’s done for us, ever.”
Members of the public tried to save Mr Hill’s life after he collided with the Holden Astra, using a defibrillator to try to revive him.
However, he died at the scene.
The driver of the Holden, a 30-year-old woman and her passenger were not injured in the crash.
Police are investigating whether Mr Hill was speeding at the time of the crash.
His death is the 81st life lost on South Australian roads this year, compared to 54 at this time last year.
