Campers have been warned they are not welcome to return to a popular park again if they leave rubbish behind for rangers and other campers to clean up as "significant littering" continues to be a problem in the Australian bush.

This week, one angry camper called out the "grubs" who left their still-assembled tent full of pizza boxes and beer cans at Island Bend campground, situated in NSW's Kosciuszko National Park, after a night of camping.

"It makes me feel great having to waste time and money cleaning up after other people," Daniel Bush told Yahoo News.

Bush explained he uses the campground frequently and it feels like "every week" he is cleaning up after others who don't bother to do it themselves. He simply said offenders are "not welcome" to return.

Tourists have been warned about littering in the idyllic Island Bend campground, in NSW's Kosciuszko National Park.

Bush continues to clean up after fellow campers as he is worried the limited number of free campsites will become less and less if the issue prevails.

"[We do it] so we can keep what little free camping we have left," he explained. "Usually I clean up, but the rangers got it this time."

Many visitors who stay in Kosciuszko National Park are concerned over the hordes of people descending on the free campsites, and those leaving litter in their wake. It's a problem at campsites around the country, and a frustrated camper recently shared a passionate rant on social media about the issue after one Queensland council cracked down on visitors using public car parks.

Online some campers said there isn't ever enough bins at the campsites, with Island Bend reportedly bad, however there was pushback on this with people saying campers should simply take their rubbish away with them.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) told Yahoo News "littering unfortunately remains an ongoing issue" within Kosciuszko National Park, with it being a concern of "priority" at the moment.

"It's disappointing to hear reports of significant littering incidents at Island Bend campground," the NPWS spokesperson said.

"The NPWS encourages all visitors and campers to adhere to the principles of 'Leave No Trace'," the spokesperson continued. "We ask that visitors leave the park in an even better condition than they found it, disposing of their rubbish responsibly and carrying out any additional litter they may encounter."
