Tourist stabbed in the head by three teens in attempted robbery


A tourist has been stabbed in the head during a robbery in Sydney.

The 23-year-old man, believed to be a German backpacker, was walking up the stairs along Upper Gilbert Street near Manly Wharf on Wednesday evening when he was accosted by three boys aged in their late teens.

Police were told the teens threatened the man, demanding his wallet and mobile phone before stabbing him with a knife and fleeing empty-handed.

The injured man took himself to Northern Beaches Hospital with a serious head injury. He will undergo surgery.

The offenders were last seen running along Upper Gilbert Street, near Tower Street.
