A devoted dog owner and his pet pooch have been buried together after they both died in a horror car crash.
Oscar Hernandez and his faithful friend Bruno were travelling down Mexican Federal Highway 101 in the state of Tamaulipas on late last month when their car was hit by a double-trailer truck.
The car was completely crushed in the collision, causing the instant deaths of the young man and his pet dog.
Oscar's relatives said he had driven from their home to visit family and to holiday with them.
As no one was able to take care of Bruno, he had brought the dog along with him.
"I regret to inform you that this morning we received the news that my brother Oscar Hernandez is no longer with us," Oscar's sister Noemi said in a social media post.
"I ask you to pray for my family in these moments of so much pain."
Days later, she revealed that Oscar and Bruno would have a joint funeral and be buried together.
She invited friends and family along to remember a friendship that endured until the end.
"Family, colleagues, friends. We are currently accompanying my brother Oscar Hernandez to Jardines del Recuerdo where he will rest together with Bruno," Noemi explained.
"We currently plan to arrive at 11am to say our last goodbye!"
A co-worker said online Bruno was Oscar's "adoration".
Their story has since gone viral in Mexico, with thousands of messages of support for Oscar's family. Many praised the relationship between Bruno and his owner.
The lorry driver involved in the crash sped away from the scene of the accident without providing assistance or waiting for the police, local media reported.
