Tottenham vs Chelsea LIVE!

A thrilling London derby kicked off the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with Jose Mourinho's Tottenham beating Frank Lampard's Chelsea on penalties.

The visitors took a 19th-minute lead as Timo Werner scored his first goal for the club, firing home into the bottom corner after good work from Cesar Azpilicueta.

Spurs improved and had chances through Gedson Fernandes and Erik Lamela, but Werner's goal was enough for Chelsea to go in at half-time 1-0 - while Lampard and Mourinho also exchanged words on the touchline as tempers threatened to boil over.

Chelsea looked to close the game out, but Sergio Reguilon made amends for his mistake for Chelsea's goal to assist Erik Lamela - and that goal took it to a penalty shootout, with Mason Mount missing to ensure Spurs won 5-4.

Team news

Tottenham XI: Lloris, Alderweireld, Dier, Tanganga, Aurier, Gedson, Ndombele, Sissoko, Reguilon, Bergwijn, Lamela

Subs: Hart, Doherty, Sanchez, Davies, Hojbjerg, Lucas, Kane

Chelsea XI: Mendy, Azpilicueta, Zouma, Tomori, Chilwell, Jorginho, Kovacic, Hudson-Odoi, Mount, Werner, Giroud

Subs: Kepa, James, Emerson, Kante, Barkley, Havertz, Abraham

Prediction: Tottenham 1-2 Chelsea

Much here will depend on the team Mourinho decides to field on Tuesday night.

A weakened XI should still be able to challenge a Chelsea team that remain inconsistent and possess obvious lingering defensive vulnerabilities, but a seriously understrength side could really struggle against an opposition likely to field several players with points to prove.

Narrow away win.
