Spelling confirmed that after days of "living in fear," she was forced to evacuate her home, bringing her 5 children and their several family pets to safety.
But according to the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum, she was ill prepared to leave her home behind, and ended up evacuating in a "panic" without any clothes packed, just "barely" squeezing her kids and pets into her SUV.
"Friends who care, told me for days to pack and have a plan," she admitted in her post. "I should have listened."
"In a SUV me and 5 kids, 3 large dogs, 1 cat, and a ferret left unplanned," she wrote. "No clothes. But grabbed photo albums. And fled."
Spelling, 51, recalled her kids being "terrified" as she drove down the freeway headed "right into the fires."
"Mother instinct took over and I pressed on north on 101," she explained. "As we drove literally thru it and smoke coming thru car vents… I told my children to take a deep breath and hold and put Tshirts over their noses and mouths."
Spelling shares her five children with ex-husband Dean McDermott. The former spouses are parents to sons Liam, 17, Finn, 12, and Beau, 7, and daughters Stella, 16, and Hattie, 13.
"We pressed on. Leaving behind a burning LA. Indeed we were ok. We are some of the lucky ones," Spelling continued in her Instagram post on Friday. "It looked and felt like a movie I'd seen too many times."
Fortunately, with the help of a friend, Spelling and her brood were able to secure an Airbnb rental to stay while the fires are still ongoing.
She did not share any details about the status of her home, though her mother, Candy Spelling already lost her $23 million Malibu mansion in the Palisades Fire.
