Kasabian’s former frontman Tom Meighan has married his partner Vikki Ager a year after pleading guilty to domestic assault.

The 40-year-old Shoot The Runner singer was sentenced to sentenced to 200 hours of community service last July for attacking Ager in an alcohol-fuelled rage during lockdown in April.

The couple - who have been engaged since 2017 - tied the knot on Tuesday 13 July at Market Harborough Registry Office in Leicestershire.

They said in a statement: "We are pleased to share the news that Tom Meighan and Vikki Ager were married at Market Harbourgh Registry Office...

"It was an intimate affair, in accordance with the latest COVID-19 guidelines, with the couple becoming husband and wife surrounded by their children, family and a few close friends.

"Tom has worked so hard on himself, his health, family unit and his relationship with Vicki over the past year. They are very much in love and looking forward to sharing the rest of their lives together."

Meighan quit Kasabian last year just before news of his assault charge emerged.

He has an nine-year-old daughter Mimi Malone with former long-term girlfriend Kim James.

Holistic therapist Ager has stood by Meighan following the assault charge and court hearing - at which he pled guilty to domestic assault.

In December last year she told Cornwall Live the assault was a "one off" and she had never seen Meighan act violently towards her before.

Meighan said: "We had too much to drink. I regret everything that happened that night – what I can remember of it. I don't condone it – it's horrific. I love my partner to pieces.

"I was at a boiling point in my life – I didn't know where things were heading. I was drowning myself with drink because of my problems and things going on around me.

"We had a fight and I took the brunt for it. I was fully responsible for what happened but we love each other and we're getting over it."

Meighan was one of the founding members of the Kasabian n 1997 along with guitarist Serge Pizzorno and bassist Chris Edwards, while they were all at school together.

They released their self titled debut album Kasabian in 2004 and their hits include Fire, Club Foot, Underdog and Empire.

The rockers were due to play a one-off comeback gig in Leicester’s Victoria Park in June 2020, which was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent lockdown.

The band announced in May that they plan to go on tour in October this year with guitarist Pizzorno assuming lead vocals and touring guitarist Tim Carter becoming a full-time member of the band.
