Toddler dies after being pulled unconscious from backyard pool

A toddler has drowned in a backyard pool in Port Stephens on the NSW North Coast.

The 19-month-old boy was found unconscious in a backyard swimming pool at a home on Marsh Road in the suburb of Bobs Farm on Sunday evening.

Police were called to the home about 6.40pm.

NSW Ambulance paramedics performed CPR but the little boy died at the scene.

Initial investigations suggest there were no suspicious circumstances, police say.

Officers from Port Stephens Police District will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
