Toddler dies in mum's arms after family dog viciously attacks her

A toddler has died after she was mauled to death by the family dog.

Denali Gonzalez, 2, of Texas, was attacked by the dog on October 12 and died in her mother’s arms, according to a GoFundMe page.

The little girl had been playing outside with the pooch when it attacked her, Inside Edition reported.

Her family tried to save her but it was in vain.

Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Varon Snelgrove described it as a “horrific incident”.

“There’s nothing the family could have done,” Lt Snelgrove said.

The dog was euthanised at the scene. It’s not known what breed the dog was but it had no prior history of violent behaviour.

Denali was described as a “sweet” little girl who left behind a brother, a number of sisters along with her parents.

“Denali was always smiling and making people happy,” the GoFundMe page reads.

“She’s in a better place now, she’s watching over her family.”

The family are hoping to raise money for her funeral expenses and to cover lost wages as they cope with her death.
