Woodies' reunion on the cards after Todd Woodbridge interview
Australian tennis great Todd Woodbridge has finally responded to former doubles partner Mark Woodforde’s revelation that the two are no longer on speaking terms.
Woodforde, speaking on the Break Point podcast earlier in August, said he and Woodbridge had drifted apart after their retirement from tennis’ top flight.

Woodbridge had since forged a successful career in the media, and competed with Jonas Bjorkman instead of Woodforde in various legends tournaments.
In his podcast guest spot, Woodforde said he wished he and his former doubles partner were in ‘a better place’, and that they ‘haven’t spoken in some time’.
Now, in a new interview with Channel 9’s Tony Jones, Woodbridge says he’s keen to do whatever it takes to build a bridge between the two former champions.
“It's improbable that we could ever be separated by everything that we've done together on the court,” he said.
“The Woodies is a household name in Australia.
“If the Australian public, and Mark in particular, wants to see us back together, we've got to make it happen.”
Woodforde says Woodies ‘drifted into background’ in retirement
As is the case with many firm friendships, time and distance can often cause them to drift apart.
In his Break Point interview, Woodforde said he and Woodbridge had gradually fallen out of contact as competing priorities in life took centre stage.
Nonetheless, he said Woodbridge’s preference for Bjorkman ahead of him at various legengs appearances had stung.
“It’s probably one of the greatest quandaries right now. I wish Todd and I were in a better place, we haven’t spoken in some time,” Woodforde said.
“Todd has elected to move on and play with Jonas Bjorkman in some of the legends doubles events, who he played with once I retired.
“He developed a partnership with Jonas and they had success together, but not anywhere near the same as the Woodies.
“I guess the Woodies drifted into the background for him and I guess he’s developing his own brand.
“So it’s disappointing for me, I still play the legends events so it’s kind of a head scratcher to turn up and we’re not playing together.
“There’s bits and pieces which I’m sure we both share in, but I hope some day that we can be on better terms than where we are now.”
