Today's Birthday, August 3: Karlie Kloss, US supermodel (1992 - ).
Supermodel Karlie Kloss has donned more hats than just those for the runway. In between her manic modelling schedule, the 36-time Vogue cover girl is an avid computer programmer, an entrepreneur and a former student of New York University.
Her classic look and unusual catwalk style has won her prominent fans, including supermodel Tyra Banks and fashion designer John Galliano.
Soon she will be counting Ivanka Trump as her sister-in-law, after she announced long-term boyfriend Joshua Kushner, Jarred Kushner's brother, popped the question.
The 6-foot (188cm) beauty broke the news to her 7.5 million Instagram followers in July 2018, saying Josh was her "best friend and soulmate".
Kloss was born in Chicago, Illinois with a mix of Danish, German and Polish heritage. She praises her early training in classic ballet as the foundation for her successful catwalk career years later.
Her striking look was discovered at a local benefit runway show in St Louis. Soon after, aged 14, she was posing for a cover and editorial shoot for Scene Magazine (2006).
By 2008 she was signed to leading New York modelling agency Next, and booking numerous fashion week shows across Milan, Paris and New York, including closing for Marc Jacobs, and opening for Carolina Herrera.
As the young model's star quickly soared, a legal battle raged between her former and current modelling agencies that was eventually settled out of court.
After walking high-fashion shows she nabbed a coveted position on the Victoria Secret runway in 2011, alongside fellow angels Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio.
After working with Next for four years, Kloss signed on with IMG Models in 2012.
In 2014 she became the coveted face for L'Oreal Paris. A year later she helped out best friend Taylor Swift in her 2015 video clip Bad Blood.
She's been the face of many lucrative brands including Adidas, Swarovski and Express, making the 26-year-old one of the world's highest paid models.
Kloss founded Kode with Klossy in 2015, a free summer camp for girls aged between 13 and 18 that teaches them software engineering skills.
In April 2018 Estee Lauder announced Kloss as its global spokesmodel and brand ambassador.
