Today's Birthday June 27: Natalie Saleeba, Australian actor, (1978 - ).
A stalwart of the Aussie television industry, Natalie Saleeba became a household name for her work on Neighbours, All Saints and, most recently, House Husbands.
But the actor sought a creative challenge, returning to the Bell Shakespeare stage where she had started her acting career.
She landed a role in Sorting Out Rachel, part of an Ensemble show by David Williamson and starring John Howard.
Born in Perth, Saleeba trained as a gymnast for ten years before retiring aged 14 in 1992.
She studied acting and then toured with the prestigious Bell Shakespeare Company, appearing in Mad About You, Rough Justice and Much Ado About Nothing.
She made her film debut in Under the Lighthouse Dancing (1997) alongside Naomi Watts, Jack Thompson and Jacqueline McKenzie.
She then appeared in small budget shows Sweat (1996) and Corridors of Power (2001). This was followed by three episodes in Always Greener between 2001 and 2002.
Her two year stint on All Saints earned her a TV Week Logie Award nomination for Most Popular New Talent (2005).
But after two years as a registered nurse in the popular drama, Saleeba said she was looking forward to leaving television behind.
"It wasn't an entirely creatively fulfilling experience for me. I don't think TV is. I don't think it's a creative medium for actors, directors or probably even writers," Saleeba told AAP in 2005.
She vowed to only take up theatre work from then on, however a role in Neighbours was too good to pass up. She played Rosetta Cammeniti for two years between 2006-2008.
From 2012, for five seasons, Saleeba also starred in Logie winning comedy House Husbands.
In 2015 she appeared opposite Cate Blanchett and Robert Redford for the film Truth.
She recently made good on her promise to return to theatre, wrapping a slew of shows at the Bell Shakespeare in March 2018.
