Today show cast not attending co-host's wedding
The Today show cast are a tight-knit family, but it seems not everyone will be present at one of the main host’s upcoming nuptials.
Newsreader Tom Steinfort is set to tie the knot with Claudia Jukic, and on Wednesday his Channel Nine co-stars celebrated the occasion with a lovely farewell gift.
“Send us some wonderful pictures, we want to see you dressed up to the Nines,” said Today host Deborah Knight, a tell-tale sign that the cast won’t be attending the wedding.
It may very well be the case that Tom is getting outside of Sydney, or perhaps it wasn’t feasible for the rest of the cast to take time off to attend the wedding.
The breakfast show presented the TV star with a big hamper sponsored by department store, David Jones, before a joke was made about another shakeup to the hosting panel.
“Thank you very much and you’ll see me on the other side,” Tom said.
“You are coming back,” a nervous Georgie immediately responded, before the panel laughed.
Tom, who proposed to Claudia 14 months ago, joined the Today panel at the start of this year after the TV networked changed up its cast.
Karl Stefanovic was famously dumped from the brekkie show at the end of 2018, along with sister-in-law, Sylvia Jeffreys.
Deb Knight stepped in as Karl’s replacement in 2019, while Tom took over Sylvia’s newsreading role.
Meanwhile Brooke Boney joined Richard Wilkins as entertainment reporter, while Georgie Gardner has continued steering the ship after taking over from Lisa Wilkinson.
