Today's Karl Stefanovic in hysterics after 'awkward' interview question

Today show host Karl Stefanovic has burst into a fit of giggles after asking a bit of an awkward question during an interview on the breakfast program on Wednesday.

He and co-host Allison Langdon were speaking to US twins Brittany and Briana Deane, who are not only married to identical twin brothers, Josh and Jeremy Salyers, but also had their children within only a few months from each other.

Aside from all being parents, Brittany, Briana, Josh, and Jeremy and their kids all live under the same roof, which has created a fairly strong bond for their entire family.

But Karl sparked a bit of an awkward silence during the interview, when he asked the family: "It's late Friday night, you've had a few Margaritas... have you ever accidentally mixed each other up?"

"Do we mix each other up?" Briana eventually answered. "Maybe just from the side..."

With Brittany adding: "I've even caught myself in the mirror when I was very, very tired when they were newborns, and I confused Briana for myself, so..."

Meanwhile, Karl was in hysterics , with Allison also struggling not to laugh.

"It's a tough one to explain if you accidentally kiss your sister's husband!" she quipped.

With Karl adding: "No it's not. It's just a brother. Who cares? They do it in Tazzy all the time!"

Brittany and Briana first met Joshua and Jeremy at the Twins Days Festival in Twinsburg, Ohio, before they tied the knot a year later in 2018 at their fairy tale weddings captured on camera for TLC.

Now they're introducing the world to their babies, Jett, who turned 1 in January, and Jax, who will turn 1 in April, who are so genetically similar that the cousins are more like brothers.

"You've heard the term Irish twins and you've heard identical twins and fraternal twins," Briana Salyers told TODAY Parents. "But we have quaternary twins."
