TikTok users are celebrating their relationships with the ‘You look happier; what happened’ trend: ‘this is so pure’

Yet another trend has taken off on TikTok, and this time it showcases some of the purest Gen Z relationships.

The “You look happier; what happened” trend is when a TikTok user posts a photo of themselves smiling and looking content, followed by the reason for their happiness — their partner.

Singer-songwriter David Kushner (@davidkushner), whose song “Daylight” plays in each video, looks to have created the trend. The video he posted, which features his girlfriend Nicole Mitchell (@nicole.dawna), has more than 6.9 million views and 1.4 million likes.

“I’m still waiting for the day I can do this trend…”

TikTokers couldn’t help but share their love for both Kushner’s song and the romantic trend.

“your music is healing so many ppl and one of them is me, when i’m having a rubbish day i just sit and listen to this masterpiece,” a user wrote. “Your amazing!”

“I think would die if someone posted this for me,” another said.

“I’m still waiting for the day I can do this trend…” someone replied.

18-year-old content creator Jazz (@jazzculp) posted her version of the trend.

“i just know he’s treating you like a princess! you go girl!”

The way he looks at you girl oml,” someone replied.

“this is the cutest thing ever,” another said.

“i just know he’s treating you like a princess! you go girl!” a TikToker commented.

Allie Palmer (@alliepalmer_) celebrated her long-distance relationship in her rendition of the trend.

“this gave me the biggest smile, so happy for you two”

“this makes me miss him,” one user wrote.

“My heart omg,” another said.

“this gave me the biggest smile, so happy for you two,” someone commented.

Amara and Keira (@kiwinut47) posted a wholesome video celebrating their love.

“can’t wait to experience this”

“I love these so much,” someone wrote.

“I love seeing people in love,” another commented. “Can’t wait for my turn”

“can’t wait to experience this,” a user replied.

This trend is just one of many that Gen Zers use to highlight their relationships. Given how sweet this content is, we aren’t surprised so many creators are getting in on it.
