A new 48 Hours investigation airing on Saturday, Oct. 19, sifts through the mystery behind a Florida “throuple” which ended in murder in 2018.

The new episode, “Who Killed Aileen Seiden in Room 15?” airs on Saturday at 10/9c on CBS, and streams on Paramount+.

The mysterious case revolves around the troubled three-way relationship between Seiden, her boyfriend Zachary Abell and their shared girlfriend Christina Araujo – a “throuple” that CBS reports first began dating in 2017.

CBS investigates the turbulent dynamics between the people involved with the help of Seiden’s best friend, who is interviewed throughout the 48 Hours episode and remains anonymous.

"This whole dynamic started to change where one of them always seemed to be the odd man out or was jealous," the friend, who goes by “Allie” in the episode, tells 48 Hours, according to CBS News. "And at that point it just started to spiral out of control."

In the hour-long episode, CBS producers also interview Franklin County Assistant Prosecutor Jarred Patterson and former Franklin County Sheriff’s Office investigator Ronnie Jones, who worked on the case before he retired and said it was unlike “anything” he had seen before.

Seiden’s body was discovered in an abandoned cul-de-sac on April 23, 2018, days after she was murdered in a motel room in Eastpoint, Fla., along the coast of the state's panhandle.

Investigators first discovered the bloody motel room before finding her body, Jones tells 48 Hours.

"She had bruises … from head to toe, covering her entire body," Jones recalls in the episode. "She suffered…I’ve never seen anything like it.”

When Seiden went missing after she, Abell and Araujo took a vacation to Texas and stayed at a motel in Eastpoint on the way back, investigators zeroed in on the two members of the throuple who were last with her.

Ultimately, both Abell and Araujo were convicted of second-degree murder.

Abell was found guilty at trial and sentenced to life in prison, according to WMBB. Araujo, who testified against Abell and claimed she'd acted under duress under coercion from him, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to approximately 20 years in prison, including the few years she'd spent in jail awaiting trial, the outlet reports.

At sentencing, Circuit Judge Jonathan Sjostrom described Seiden's killing as a "torture death," according to the Apalachicola Times.

The upcoming episode of 48 Hours, titled “Who Killed Aileen Seiden in Room 15?” airs on Saturday at 10/9 CT on CBS, and streams on Paramount+.
