Three unrestrained kids in police pursuit

Three children left unrestrained in a car being pursued by NSW police are safe and back with their mother.

Police were chasing the allegedly stolen car through northwest Sydney late on Friday when officers confirmed the children were in the car

The road pursuit was terminated "immediately", police said on Saturday.

A police helicopter tracked the car to a home in Marsden Park, where a 23-year-old man was arrested and the children recovered safely.

Police will notify the child protection authority about the incident.

The man has been charged with driving while disqualified and not stopping in a police pursuit while a 23-year-old woman, also in the car, is assisting police with inquiries.

Police have been told the pair got in the car after an argument with a 26-year-old woman whose North Richmond property they'd been staying at.

The older woman suffered cuts to her hands and a broken nose after the man armed himself with a knife and the younger woman threw a punch, police say.
