Three people charged with animal cruelty over underweight horse

A severely underweight and neglected retired racehorse has been found on a southeast Queensland farm near Ipswich.

Three people were charged with animal cruelty after a public tip-off about the thoroughbred mare.

The four-year-old horse was inspected by the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC) on October 4.

The horse remains on the Pine Mountain property, but the owners will have to nurse the horse back to health or risk it being seized.

The 48-year-old man who owns the horse, and two women, 20 and 51, have been charged with animal cruelty and will appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court on November 6.
