Three people arrested in counter terrorism operation in Melbourne
Victoria Police, the Australian Federal Police and ASIO have this morning conducted an anti-terrorism operation in Melbourne.
They have arrested a 30-year-old man from Dallas, a 26-year-old man from Campbellfield and a 21-year-old man from Greenvale. All are Australian nationals from a Turkish background.
It will be alleged the three men arrested were involved in undertaking preparations for planning a terrorist act in Melbourne.
During a press conference this morning, Police confirmed that the investigation began in March and the suspects’ ‘intentions escalated in the last week’.
A media release from Victoria Police reassure’s the community that the threat has been contained and there is no on-going threat to the community.
