Two gunmen are on the run following a triple shooting in Melbourne where up to 10 shots were fired.

There were pools of blood on the footpath in front of a Westmeadows house early on Monday as detectives investigated the overnight attack that left three men with non life-threatening injuries.

The trio, aged 26, 28 and 37, remained in hospital on Monday evening.

Investigators continue to hunt the pair who allegedly shot them.

Neighbours say they heard yelling and up to 10 shots about 11.40pm on Sunday.

One resident, who didn't want to be named, said CCTV footage of two men running across his front yard had been seized by police.

He initially heard about six shots before midnight.

When he checked his camera monitors, he saw two men running across his front yard and then heard more shots.

The gunmen were driven away from the street in a dark sedan, he said.

The man installed CCTV at his house because of ongoing trouble in the area.

Another neighbour went outside after hearing the bangs and saw a woman from the house that was shot at jump into a BMW and drive off after the gunmen.

"We came out and saw a guy and his family and he was screaming that his leg got shot," he said.

"It was crazy."
