Three arrested over Vic armed robberies

Two men and a woman have been arrested following armed robberies at a fast food restaurant and bottle shop in Melbourne's west.

The trio, from Newport and aged between 22 and 26, were arrested on Wednesday morning and are assisting police with their inquiries.

The first robbery was at a fast food restaurant in Altona North on November 26 and the second was at a bottle shop in Williamstown on December 23.

During the second robbery, two men brandished guns and threatened staff before escaping with cash.

The arrests come a week after detectives appealed for witnesses to the robberies, releasing CCTV footage of two men threatening a staff with guns during one of the robberies, as well as footage of an older-model white Toyota Corolla.

A white Corolla was seized by police and is believed to be connected to the robberies.
