Three arrested after fatal Christmas Eve crash

Three people have been arrested after a pedestrian was hit and killed by a grey Jaguar XJ that failed to stop.

Essex Police said a woman aged 60 died at the scene of the crash, which happened just after 07:30 GMT on 24 December at Palmerstone Road, Buckhurst Hill.

Officers have arrested a man, 20, from Loughton; a boy, 17, from Dagenham and a boy, 16, from Chingford on suspicion of a number of driving offences, including causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.

The 20-year-old has been released on bail until 13 March, while the teenagers have been bailed until 14 March.

Det Sgt Sam Nason appealed for information about the collision, and urged any eyewitnesses or those with footage to come forward.

"My thoughts continue to be with the family of the woman who died in this incident and they are being supported by specialist officers," he added.
