Third accused over WA public sector fraud

Police have charged a woman accused of helping a senior bureaucrat and another man to carry out Western Australia's biggest public sector theft.

The 45-year-old Beechboro woman is alleged to have acted in concert with former Department of Communities executive Paul Whyte and his co-accused, physiotherapist Jacob Anthonisz.

Police allege Whyte and Anthonisz, who have been charged with corruption offences, raised false invoices for more than $2.5 million in payments to two shell companies.

Prosecutors said there was evidence of further theft of up to $25 million dating back to 2008.

The woman, who is not a state government employee, has been charged with nine counts of official corruption.

She will face Perth Magistrates Court on December 16.
