A rock climber has fallen to his death in America's Yosemite National Park just hours after proposing to his girlfriend.
Brad Parker, 36, a veteran rock climber died from a fall on Saturday.
Mr Parker's father, Bill, told The Press Democrat that his son and girlfriend Jainee Dial had earlier climbed together to a peak and she had accepted his proposal.
Brad Parker had said it was the happiest day of his life.
The two parted and Mr Parker headed off by himself on another climb.
Other climbers saw Mr Parker fall about 5:45 pm. Yosemite Park Ranger Kari Cobb said.
He was climbing alone and without ropes on the granite crest, Mr Cobb said.
“We’re all so stunned,” Mr Parker Snr said. “What happened is so unbelievable.”
Mr Parker Snr said told The Press Democrat his son was a careful climber in top physical condition.
But he said fatigue from the earlier climb combined with the run to point of the second climb may have been a factor in the mishap.
