Is this the best neighbour ever?

A heartwarming welcome letter to a woman who had just moved into a new house has gone viral.

According to the Daily Mail, the letter includes helpful tips, useful phone numbers and information about rubbish collection.

“When the winter comes and if you decide to use the gas heat let me know, I will help bleed the tank and get it up and running for you,” the note says.

“It took the previous tenant and me almost a full day and flooding the house before we got them going. Not that it is difficult, but it helps doing it for two years now.”

The gobsmacked newcomer posted the note on Facebook to share her neighbour’s act of kindness.

The neighbour, known only as Chris, also points out that there is only one tap outside.

“Feel free to use it,” he says.

Chris also explains that he is deaf in one ear “so if I ever have the TV to (sic) loud text me and let me know it turn it down.”

And to top it off, he treats the new tenant to a free dinner.

“I know getting settled can be crazy and time consuming, so dinner is on me,”

"...So you can have an evening without having to worry about cooking. Happy house warming."

Attached to the letter was a voucher for a local restaurant.

Chris’s touching gesture has been praised on social media.

"We need more people like Chris in the world," one user wrote.

Another commented: "Wow...how great would the world be if this was the cultural norm."
