Police are hunting a group of Romanian men after shocking video was uploaded online showing a man grabbing an elderly woman and swinging her around as she screams.

The video, posted to Facebook on Friday, shows a group of young men standing outside what appears to be a bar near capital Bucharest.

They laugh and taunt an elderly lady as she is spun around in her dressing gown, visibly disoriented and distressed.

As the terrified woman flees, the group continues to laugh as the attacker proudly flexes his muscles in front of his friends.

His friends shout "Spin her more! Spin her more!" followed by "Run and catch her, do it again" before the attacker chases after the victim and continues swinging her around.

The video has since gone viral after being shared on social media, where it came to the attention of police.

"We are looking into this incident. We want to know when this video was shot, where it was shot and who the people were in the video," said a local police spokesperson.

"A report will then be prepared for prosecutors who will decide what action to take.""

"Why the f*** do you write these comments, you slaves? I’ll p*** on you! What the f*** is it with these comments? It was just a joke. She wasn’t dying," the post read.

"If you don’t like it, I’ll give you my phone number and you can call me."
