Baby born during crash that killed parents

A baby has been "catapulted" from his mother's womb during a car crash that claimed the lives of both his parents.

New York's Daily News reports that the miracle baby Xiao Zhao was born during the motorbike crash in south-eastern China last week.

The 4.1kg newborn was found 3m from the body of his 40-year-old mother and is recovering in Xiamen.

His parents were killed when their bike was hit by a truck on the way to hospital, according to the Daily News.

"What we found out from her family is that the woman had gone into labour and her husband, a 42-year-old man, decided to take her by motorbike to the hospital rather than waiting for an ambulance," a hospital spokesman said.

The Daily News reports that a 45-year-old truck driver has been arrested over the crash.
