Naked man holds girlfriend hostage on roof with meat cleaver
A construction worker has been arrested over a five-hour hostage situation after his girlfriend's parents refused to approve their marriage.
The 32-year-old man, only identified as Lin, held his girlfriend hostage on a Chinese rooftop with a meat cleaver.
He also stripped the 29-year-old naked to try and shame her for alleged infidelities.
Video of the ordeal shows Lin waving a cleaver around, grabbing his girlfriend by the throat and threatening to kill her.
He is believed to have dragged his girlfriend to the roof after her parents refused to give him their blessings to marry their daughter.
According to local media, not even his own parents approved of the marriage proposal.
After hours of negotiations, police eventually gave in to demands for a getaway car, but chased Lin down and tackled him as he approached the car.
He now faces a lengthy jail term.
